RICHMOND POLICE DEPARTMENT Richmond, Virginia
The City of Richmond Police Department has deployed a Hackney SWAT support vehicle. The body is mounted on a Chevrolet C5500 with 330hp diesel engine, Allison 2500 automatic transmission and four-wheel drive, permitting the use of the vehicle in off-road tactical situations. The vehicle was purchased through the Virginia Department of State Police.
The 15.25-ft body features Hackney’s integrated track roll-up door system maximizing utilization of all compartment storage capacity (see drawings for all slide tray configuration). Integrated door tracks allows the trays to be installed at maximum compartment width. The integral recessed roof provides additional storage capacity in the coffin compartments.
The left and right rear compartments having redundant storage for shields and bunker gear. Compartment doors are equipped with a security alarm system with remote operation. A Class III/V trailer hitch allows the vehicle to move a explosive container or other trailered equipment.
A 12,000 watt PTO driven generator provides plenty of electrical power for on-scene lighting. Two 900-watt flood lights are recessed in the upper left and right side of the body and two 750-watt removable tripod flood lights are carried on the rear of the body for remote lighting or operated in the stationary position.
