Model CM1500 Command & Communications
The City of Mexicali welcomed their new Hackney Command and Communications vehicles at a gala hosted by the city on September 11, 2008. It is the first vehicle of its type in the region. The 15-foot body provides a very maneuverability on and off road and extends the communications capabilities of the police department and other city services in a wide area. The body is mounted on a Chevrolet C5500 and features a 330 hp diesel engine with Allison 6-speed automatic transmission.
The slide-out room, located on the street side, extends 24” off the side of the body. It is operated pneumatically and automatically extends by simply pressing a single button.
A 30-ft pneumatic tower on the left rear body features a nighvision camera connected to interior monitors; a 32” LCD on the rear wall of the conference center, 32” LCD on the forward wall in the communications center and two 2o” monitors in the comms console where the remote controls are located.
A second 34-ft pneumatic tower is located on the right rear body and provides a platform for repeater antennas.
The interior is cooled by an air distribution system recessed in the ceiling, permitting even temperatures even with the conference room door closed. Plenty of lighting is made available with flush mounted ceiling florescent lights.
A separate electronics rack is provided opposite the comms console for rack mounting all electronics for the phone system, radios, satellite transceiver and video equipment. A 7.0kw diesel generator provide power and is fueled from the chassis fuel tank.
All interior cabinets are aluminum with a powder-coated exterior for durability. The comms console and conference table are solid-surface with rounded edges to prevent damage from gun belts or other items that chip typical plastic laminate surfaces.
Walls are covered with sound-absorbing carpet that permits typically twelve people to communicate within the interior comfortably.
The body is all-aluminum fire service quality construction designed to withstand years of rugged use. The roof is anti-slip aluminum treadplate designed to permit service techs to walk without damage on the surface and to secure the SAT dish, antennas and air conditioner unit.
