MABAS (Mutual Aid Box Alarm System)

Chicago, Illinois

Model DF982HPA High Performance Mobile Air

Specifications

Hackney, in partnership with W.S. Darley and Company, custom built this high performance mobile air support vehicle for MABAS as a regional response unit capable of responding, as dispatched, anywhere in the Illinois mutual aid agreement territories. The system is capable of filling, via three RevolveAir fill stations, over 80 completely empty one-hour 4500 psi SCBA bottle per hour.

The 19.5-ft long body is dedicated to breathing air support and features a Scott 65 cfm air-cooled compressor powered by a 60kw PTO generator. The generator is mounted inside the left front compartment, protecting it from the highly corrosive road salt spray prevalent in the entire response area.

The chassis is an International 4400 with 330 hp and vertical exhaust.

The fill system is the fastest and most simple to operate available. All Whelen LED warning lights, LED traffic director light bar and LED tail, clearance and compartment lights provide trouble-free performance.

The monster 65 cfm air-cooled compressor rest in the wheelhouse compartment. A default switch prevents operation unless the doors are full open. Three RevolveAir fill stations; one left rear, one right rear, and one in the back (tail) compartments provide uninterrupted fill operations for over 80 refills (completely empty one-hour 4500 psi bottles) per hour. Ten (10) 6000 psi ASME receivers stored reserve air.
